A couple of mornings ago I turned on the TV for a few minutes. I happened to flip to the Today Show. Low and behold, they had a really valuable and interesting segment. The article provides links to various industry associations and agencies that will be happy to remove your name and address from their lists. I gather that it will take at least six weeks to see a drop off in junk mail volume.
